our
rulebook

We have put together some rules or guidelines, that we expect you to follow as you participate in the event. They uphold the Monumental spirit of adventure, challenge, and responsibility. They also ensure the safety, fairness and integrity of the event.

1. This is not a race

  • This is an event, not a race! This means that streets will not be closed; please take care of other road users and be always kind. The roads are there for everyone to use :).
  • Monumental is a social event. Help each other out in case someone has an issue. Also, riding together is allowed.
  • There will be no podium and no price for the first finisher. You will get your moment of fame and a special mention on our socials. However, we care about the experience and the connections, more than about the watts ;).
  • Race yourself, not the others!

2. Respect the environment

  • Leave no trace: don’t leave waste behind!
  • Be mindful of wildlife and respect their space. Stay on the trails to not disturb any animals.
  • The event supports sustainable travel: look for different ways to reach the event, and bear in mind the effect on the environment of your choice.

3. Respect Others

  • MonuMental is an inclusive event, free from racism and sexism. We have a zero tolerance against discrimination in any form.
  • Always be kind: to other participants, as well as to people you meet on the way. Whether it is other cyclists, hikers or car drivers.

4. Ride Self-Sufficiently

  • This event is self-supported or self-sufficient. This means that you can only count on yourself and your own power for forward movement; no motorized assistance.
  • External support is prohibited. Riders must carry or acquire all essentials from commercially available services.
  • You are allowed to accept unsolicited help, however, this must be incidental and available to others.

5. Follow the Route and track your ride

  • Stick to the registered route. Temporary deviations for resupply are permitted, but riders must return to the track at the same point where they left it.
  • No shortcuts are allowed.
  • GPS tracking is mandatory, and GPX files may be reviewed to ensure compliance.

6. safety first

  • Helmets, lights (and spares), and reflective gear for night riding are mandatory.
  • Riders must follow all traffic laws and have adequate insurance, including emergency coverage.
  • Obey local traffic laws.

All participants are expected to respect these rules. Violations will be taken serious and may in worst case lead to disqualification or removal from the event without any form of compensation.
